Fractional CISO and independent security leadership
When security decisions keep returning to the founder or IT lead, give the work an accountable owner, a written plan and a realistic allocation of time.
Who this is for
For organizations that need recurring security leadership and independent judgment, with delivery capacity agreed before the relationship begins.
Questions the work should answer
- Which security decisions lack an accountable owner?
- What has to change before a customer, investor or board decision?
- Which work belongs with internal staff, specialists or an ongoing adviser?
- What should leadership be able to verify at the next monthly review?
What you receive
A monthly work plan and action record, the deliverables for the included work we schedule, and a quarterly board risk report.
How the evidence supports a decision
The purpose of a retainer is to turn repeated security questions into owned work. The plan should name priorities, responsible people, evidence of progress and decisions that need leadership attention. A recurring meeting alone is not a completed security program.
What to bring to the first conversation
Describe the decisions that recur, the people already doing the work, the next important deadline and the capacity you need. An initial discussion establishes whether a retainer, a defined engagement or a full-time hire is the better fit.
Before you commit
How does a fractional CISO differ from a full-time hire?
The engagement supplies agreed leadership and work within a defined capacity. It does not create a full-time employee or unlimited availability. If the role needs continuous ownership beyond that capacity, a full-time hire may be appropriate.
Are all services and unlimited projects included?
Menu services can be scheduled within the monthly capacity, priorities and scope. Hours, concurrent projects, contact windows and outside expenses are agreed in writing. The retainer is not unlimited staffing.
